Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of contraband.watch and its companion VR experience (together, “the Platform”), operated by Quanten Media Private Ltd. (“Quanten Media,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account, buying a ticket, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you don't agree, please don't use the Platform.

Eligibility

Who can use CONTRABAND.

CONTRABAND is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly let anyone that age create an account. Buying a ticket or topping up a wallet requires the legal capacity to enter into a payment agreement; if you're under 18, you'll need a parent or guardian's permission to make a purchase.

Scope

What these Terms cover.

These Terms govern all use of contraband.watch: browsing screenings, creating an account, buying tickets, topping up or spending a wallet balance, attending a live VR screening, voting on films, and submitting a film as a filmmaker. Specific screenings or promotions may carry their own additional terms, which we'll present at the time; where they conflict with these Terms, the more specific terms govern that activity only.

Accounts

Accounts & registration.

  • You must provide accurate account details and keep them up to date, including your email address.
  • You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
  • One account per person. Don't create an account on someone else's behalf without their permission.
  • Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Tickets & payments

Tickets, wallet balances & payments.

  • Ticket purchases and wallet top-ups are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
  • A wallet balance is non-transferable, has no cash value outside the Platform, and can only be spent on CONTRABAND tickets.
  • Fees are generally non-refundable once a ticket is issued, except where required by law or where we cancel or materially change a screening you're booked into.
  • Guest ticket codes you generate are meant for the guest you invite. We may log the IP address and time a code is claimed to prevent a single code from being reused by strangers.

Screenings

Attending a screening.

During a live screening you're connected to other attendees over a live voice room so you can hear the audience react; that audio is never recorded. Recording, screen-capturing, or otherwise reproducing a screening, in whole or in part, is prohibited without the rights holder's written permission. We may remove attendees who disrupt a screening or its audience room for other attendees.

Filmmaker submissions

Filmmaker submissions & content license.

If you submit a film for consideration, you retain ownership of it. By submitting, you grant Quanten Media a limited, non-exclusive license to review, store, and, if accepted, host and stream the film on the Platform for the screenings agreed with you, including the rights/technical metadata (music licensing, clearances, subtitle languages, flashing-light warnings) you provide alongside it. We do not use anything you submit to train machine learning models. You may request removal of an accepted film from future screenings at any time; screenings already scheduled or completed are not affected. You're responsible for ensuring you hold the rights necessary to submit and license the film to us.

Platform IP

License & ownership.

Aside from films and other content you submit, Quanten Media owns the Platform, including its design, code, and branding. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Platform for its intended purpose: browsing, booking, and attending screenings. Nothing here transfers ownership of the Platform to you.

Restrictions

Acceptable use.

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, mine, or systematically extract data from the Platform.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to access the Platform's source code.
  • Use the Platform or any content on it to train machine learning models.
  • Resell, transfer, or list a ticket, guest code, or wallet balance outside the Platform.
  • Record, capture, or redistribute a screening without the rights holder's written permission.
  • Submit a film you don't hold the rights to, or that is unlawful, infringing, or misrepresented.
  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that disrupts other attendees or the service.

Termination

Suspension & termination.

You can stop using the Platform and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse guest ticket codes, or otherwise abuse the Platform. Where possible, we'll tell you why. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification, will continue to apply.

Warranties

Disclaimer of warranties.

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular screening, film, or feature will be available at any given time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Liability

Limitation of liability.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quanten Media's total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or SGD 100. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data.

Indemnification

Indemnification.

You agree to defend and indemnify Quanten Media against claims arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or content you submit, including any film submission you did not hold the rights to provide.

Governing law

Governing law & disputes.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

General

Assignment, entire agreement & severability.

  • You may not assign or transfer these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Quanten Media regarding the Platform.
  • If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in full force and effect.
  • Our failure to enforce a right under these Terms doesn't waive that right.

Changes

Changes to these Terms.

We may update these Terms as CONTRABAND grows. Material changes take effect 10 days after we post the updated Terms, reflected by a new “Last updated” date above; where appropriate, we'll also let you know by email or a notice on the site. Continuing to use the Platform after changes take effect means you accept them.
